[Case Study] Research on LED Heat Dissipation through Industry-Academia Collaboration

It is possible to evaluate the lifespan of LEDs and optimize considering both their lifespan and the cost of the lighting equipment!

We would like to introduce a case where Kitakyushu City University utilized "FloTHERM," "FloTHERM XT," and "modeFRONTIER" for research on LED heat dissipation through industry-academia collaboration. It is often said that the lifespan of an LED can double if the temperature is reduced by 10°C, indicating a close relationship between heat dissipation performance and the lifespan of LED lighting. Therefore, we evaluated the lifespan of LEDs considering the operational conditions of the floodlights and conducted optimization that took both lifespan and the cost of the lighting equipment into account. By integrating "FloTHERM" and "modeFRONTIER," we established an automated and optimized environment using CAE, allowing us to obtain trade-off information between lifespan and cost through parameter studies. **Features of modeFRONTIER** - A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" - Rich in unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites - Highly supported by many users - Capable of building a distributed execution environment using multiple machines without relying on general NQS *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
